Have you heard of the newest thing in social networking for the gays called Fabulis? I highly recommend giving it a chance.
The site advertises itself as being ‘The Place’ for gays to find out what is going on. Fabulis takes what you know about social media and adds a new level, it allows you to vote on which of your friends are the most fabulis. Your most fabulis friends can win an plethora of prizes.
To vote for your friends, you must spend your ‘fabulis bits’. To get the bits you can do pretty much anything, invite friends, answer questions about yourself, or you can resort to the old fashioned way of getting things and buy them.
I got the bug and decided to explore this site a few weeks ago when I entered their contest to win a trip to see Christina perform in New York. All I had to do was change one of my four descriptive tags to “Christina Aguilera Fan”.
After a hard fought battle I came close, but I didn’t win the trip. I did win an autographed copy of Christina’s new album, Bionic. There is a pic of me and my new toy above.
The site obviously follows through with their promises. Good thing, because now they are giving away things such as a trip to NYC pride and yet another cruise.
Not gay? This site also has a place for you. Users can register as ‘not gay, but friend of the gay community’. Not gay users get the same about of ‘bits’ to vote for their gay friends.
The catch, well I haven’t really found one. You are allowed to ‘tag’ yourself in as many as four categories, not predetermined. You don’t even have to fill out a long registration form, the site pulls your facebook profile to create a fabulis profile.
If you ever wanted to get in on the ground level of something, this is the site to explore. When I joined, the site had under 3000 users and today they are up to over 37000.
