Have you ever heard of the group GetEQUAL? Their mission is simple: to create a movement of everyday people—lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and straight—who are dedicated to bringing about full legal and social equality.
I have a feeling that before long, most people in the US are going to know about them.
The group stood by Lt. Dan Choi during his White House protest of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. Last night they attended a fundraiser in Los Angeles for Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer.
Obama appeared at this fundraiser. During his speech, someone shouted: “What about Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell?” Obama tried to control the situation, but it ended up with everyone shouting “Yes We Can”, his 2008 campaign slogan. Obama manages to gain control and urges everyone to direct their yelling towards people who aren’t supporting our cause. Here is the live video from CNN:
