Lt. Dan Choi (also a great follow on twitter @ltdanchoi) was arrested in Washington DC yesterday.
The day started off with a rally to challenge Obama on the repeal of DADT. The whole speech is to the left.
At the end of the clip, he invites everyone to bring their video cameras and follow him to the White House.
Choi and Capt. James Pietrangelo (another ousted soldier) ended up chaining themselves to the gates of the White House in protest of the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell ban on gays in the military.
You can watch some of CNN’s coverage in the clip.
Both men were detained and held overnight. There is no word yet on where they are being held, when the trial will begin or what exactly the two men are being charged with.
I really respect these guys for standing up for their rights as gay soldiers. People like this encourage me to keep talking more about some of the discrimination I have faced over the years. The more vocal we are, the closer we will get to full LGBT equality.
